Our Inclusive Gardening Day was about more than planting seeds in the soil — it was about planting seeds of understanding and connection across our community. The experience brought together children with disabilities, their families, and volunteers of all ages to dig, laugh, and grow side by side. For many, it was a first opportunity to engage meaningfully with children who have medical or developmental challenges in a hands-on, joyful environment.
The garden became a shared space where curiosity replaced hesitation, and where people of all generations learned from one another. Children, teens, adults, and seniors alike walked away with a deeper awareness of the daily realities faced by children with disabilities — and a renewed confidence in how to interact, include, and support them in everyday life.
Thanks to our gold sponsor, Rusticus Garden Club of Bedford, for making this event possible!
Our community came together in the best way possible for an unforgettable fundraiser at Ambleside Pub 🍻—and we’re still smiling! With laughter, good food, and amazing raffle prizes, we raised vital funds to support Team Nikhil’s inclusive events and Adaptive Equipment Award. 💙
A huge THANK YOU to Ambleside Pub for hosting us, your generous support, and the super-welcoming VIBE!
We could not have pulled this off without our local raffle sponsors:
A large portion of our budget is allocated for our Adaptive Equipment Program.
Insurance companies and state funding is limited for adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, adaptive strollers, and bicycles.
You can help close the gap! Your contribution will help empower children through our Adaptive Equipment Program.
We are launched Team Nikhil in memory of our son, Nikhil, who lost his battle to a rare disease called Microcephaly-Capillary Malformation Syndrome. This resulted in a severe form of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. Nikhil also had cognitive disability, was non-verbal, and was wheelchair dependent. When Nikhil died in 2021 at the age of 12, our whole world shattered. Reflecting on our journey made us realize that Nikhil taught us strength and resilience - inspiring us to help other children like him. Because it took a "team" for Nikhil to thrive, we named our organization Team Nikhil.
Nikhil's journey is beautifully captured in this video created by the Child Life Department at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone:
